passerotto, young sparrow.

Passerotto is for short, brave steps, like a young sparrow’s first flaps of its wings.

The ankle height keeps your baby’s foot in the shoe: not to support the ankle, but so the shoe stays on. We kept the laces short, so they’re quick to tie. The leather softens with wear and takes on the shape of your child’s foot.

Fit and size

The tongue and laces mean it fits high insteps too.

If they’ll be worn with thick socks, measure in those socks.

Six steps in the workshop
  1. Disegnato · Design

The ankle height was set at 4.5 cm, so the shoe stays on but the ankle stays free.

  2. Pelle · Leather

Vegetable-tanned leather from Santa Croce sull’Arno.

  3. Taglio · Cutting

    12 pieces per pair.

  4. Cucito a mano · Hand stitching

The tongue and ankle edge are stitched by hand.

  5. Montaggio · Lasting

The sole is stitched on; the toe rests on the last overnight.

  6. Consegnato · Delivery

    Comes in the Misura box.

Care
  • Brush off dust with a soft, dry brush; dab marks away with a slightly damp cloth.
  • If they get wet, stuff them with paper and let them dry at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sun.
  • Once a month, apply a thin coat of a colourless, natural leather cream.
  • Do not machine wash. Over time the leather darkens and carries the imprint of your child’s steps; this is natural.
